Yash's Great Great Grandfather - Sitaram Choukhany, the founder of Ghograjan Tea Estate

History Matters

Our founder Yash Choukhany is a 5th generation tea farmer and the proud owner of Ghograjan Tea Farm based in Assam, India. The garden's history dates back to the early 1930's, when Yash's great great grandfather - Sitaram Choukhany planted the gardens first seeds near the Ghogra River. In the local Assamese language, 'Jan' mean a Small River and hence Ghogra-Jan came into existence.

Today, the farm sprawls more than 350 acres of tea under cultivation and employs over 400 people with well laid out infrastructure, including housing, a health center and a primary school.

"Being a 5th Generation tea Farmer, sending fresh packets of tea and educating people that CHAI is not called CHAI TEA, felt like a calling. These days we might go about it differently, but the quality of your tea remains the same. Thanks for being a part of TeaBlyss.
